B2B2C SaaS: Serving a Business and Its Customers

B2B2C SaaS means you sell software to a business, and that business puts it in front of its own customers. You end up serving two different people at once: the partner who signs the contract and the end user who clicks the buttons.

B2B2C SaaS stands for business to business to consumer. A vendor sells to a company, and the company uses the software to serve its own customers. Your buyer is a company. Your user is that company's customer, and they may never learn your name.

How the model works day to day

Payment software inside a store checkout is the classic shape. So is a booking tool a salon puts on its own site, or a lender's application form inside a car dealership. The pattern is the same underneath: one party signs the contract, and a different party clicks the buttons.

That split is what makes the model powerful. You reach many end users without having to find each one yourself. It is also what makes it hard, because you now answer to two audiences whose wishes differ.

You now have two customers to please

The business cares about control, reporting, and the way your product reflects on its brand. The end user cares about one thing, which is finishing the task. Those two wants pull in opposite directions more often than you would expect. A partner may ask for three extra fields on a form, while the person filling it in wants fewer.

Someone has to hold the line on the end-user experience. In healthy B2B2C companies that is a named job rather than a committee.

The parts that get hard

Most of the pain in this model is not the software. It is the handful of questions nobody agreed on early enough.

How B2B2C differs from the neighbors

Privacy and responsibility

When end users give their information through a partner's page, two organizations may be handling it. Agree in writing who decides what is collected, who responds when an end user asks about their data, and what each party tells the end user. Privacy law differs by place and by the kind of data, so involve a qualified adviser for the specifics rather than relying on a general guide.

When B2B2C is not the right model

If the end user's experience is not something you can influence, or the partner will not allow you to speak to their customers at all, you may be building for people you cannot learn from. In that case, a direct model, where you sell to the end user, may be clearer. Likewise, if partners need heavy customization of every deployment, a services model may fit better than software.

Metrics worth separating

Because you serve two audiences, measure them separately. For partners, look at how many launched, how quickly, how many stayed and what they asked for in support. For end users, look at completion of the main task, drop-off points and complaints. Mixing the two hides problems: a partner may be happy with a product that its customers dislike, and that will show up later as cancellations. Report each audience on its own page, and review them together.

Questions to put to a prospective partner

Putting these on the table before signing avoids the most common disagreements later. A partner who has thought about them is usually a partner who will treat their own customers well.

What changes as the number of partners grows

With a few partners, each can be handled personally. With many, you need standard onboarding, standard terms, clear limits and a single place to see the state of each partner. Customization that was simple for the first three becomes expensive for the thirtieth. Decide early which things a partner may change, such as branding and wording, and which stay the same for everyone, such as security and data handling.

How Microsite Generator handles this

Our version of that second layer is your own set of sites. One account can hold many of them, each with its own domain, its own pages and its own leads.

Limits are set by plan and stay visible the whole time. Starter covers 10 sites at up to 25 pages each, and Platform goes to 300 sites at up to 25, 50 or 100 pages each.

Being capped is deliberate, because it keeps the platform pointed at real sites rather than page farms. Every site clears the same compliance gate before it publishes.

Each page is individually built from the answers you give the agent, and checked against Google Search Essentials and modern web standards. A partner site is held to the standard your own site is.

Frequently asked questions

What does B2B2C stand for?

Business to business to consumer. You sell to a business, and that business delivers your product to its own customers.

How is it different from plain B2B?

In plain B2B, your buyer is your user. In B2B2C, the buyer and the user are different people with different needs.

Who handles end-user support?

Decide it in writing before launch. Most teams put the partner in front and keep a path to escalate to you.

Should the end user see my brand?

That is a business decision, not a technical one. Agree it with each partner before you build anything.

What happens to the data if a partner leaves?

It depends on your agreement. Decide who owns the records, how they are exported and when they are deleted before the first partner signs.
