What is microsite?
Where the idea came from
Marketers built the first microsites for campaigns, whether that was a film launch, a product line or a sponsorship. The site ran for a season and then it came down again.
The idea outlived the campaigns that created it. Owners noticed that a small, focused site is easier to write and far easier to keep true over time.
The format survives because it matches how people search, which is one question at a time.
The word is loose in practice. Some people mean five pages and some mean fifty, and both uses are fair.
What sits inside one
A home page that names the subject. A handful of pages that break that subject into parts. A contact page with a working form on it.
That is usually enough. Each page should be genuinely useful on its own, because people arrive on inner pages far more often than they arrive on your home page.
If a page only makes sense after reading another page, merge the two of them together.
Give it a real contact route as well, because a site with no way to reply is only half a site.
When a microsite is the wrong call
Skip the whole idea if any of these four things are true of your situation.
And when a microsite grows past its subject, it has quietly become a website — and that is fine too.
Two of those together is a clear no. One on its own is usually a scheduling problem rather than a strategy problem.
- The subject is already covered well on your existing main site.
- Nobody in the business can commit to keeping another site current.
- The plan is to publish many copies with only a name changed.
- The pages would exist only to catch one particular search phrase.
How Microsite Generator handles this
The platform builds microsites and nothing else. You talk to an agent about your business, and it writes the pages from your answers rather than from a template.
Sites are capped at up to 25, 50 or 100 pages each, individually built, with their own structure and internal links. The compliance gate runs before anything publishes, and every page is checked against Google Search Essentials and modern web standards.
You can add an About, Contact or FAQ page in one click, and the agent writes it from what it already knows. Or name a page of your own and write it yourself in plain paragraphs at no charge.

Frequently asked questions
How small is a microsite?
Small enough that one person can keep every page current, which is the only limit that really matters here.
Does a microsite need its own domain?
No. A subdomain or a folder works. A separate domain simply lets it stand alone.
Is a microsite the same as a landing page?
No. A landing page is one page for one action. A microsite has several pages and a home page.
Do microsites compete with my main site?
Only if you publish the same page in both places, so keep each subject in one place and link between them.
