Four steps to a finished site.
Step 1 of 4. Connect your domain. Connect your own domain. No domain yet? Your site can still publish at its free address.
Step 2 of 4. Tell us about your business. Your Growth Agent asks about your business. Your answers become your business profile.
Step 3 of 4. Build your site. You build in conversation. Every page goes through the compliance gate, a check that runs before anything publishes.
Step 4 of 4. Add pages. On the Pages screen, each page you can add has one line saying what it is. After it is added, you see whether it is live.
The four steps stay on your home screen and are marked as you finish them.

What the four steps are

The four steps are the order in which a new site gets set up: connect your domain, tell us about your business, build your site, and add pages. Each is marked once you have done it, and each comes with the reason it comes where it does. You do not have to remember what comes next, because the platform shows it.

  1. Connect your domain.
  2. Tell us about your business.
  3. Build your site.
  4. Add pages.

Where you see the four steps

The same four steps appear in several places, so you meet them wherever you happen to be working.

Empty lists and unfinished setup steps also link to where you can act.

Step by step

1. Connect your domain

The first step puts your own domain on your account. If you do not have a domain connected yet, your site can still publish to its free address. Tell your agent who your domain is registered with and it walks you through the host's own screens. The page on how your site's address works explains the rest.

2. Tell us about your business

The intake is a conversation with your Growth Agent about your business. The Business Intelligence Intake button stays at the top of the agent's panel until every detail about your business is on record, which also leaves the conversation more room. Your business profile shows each unanswered field and what it is for. The fields that cannot be filled in from a text box carry an Ask me button that starts the question in the conversation. When your Growth Agent saves something while the profile is open beside the chat, the profile updates right there without reloading.

For the longer walkthrough, see how to complete the intake.

3. Build your site

You build your site in conversation with the agent, which writes from what you told it. Before it publishes, each page goes through the compliance gate, a check that runs before anything publishes.

4. Add pages

On the Pages screen, each page you can add has one line saying what it is. After a page is added, the screen tells you whether it is live and, when we wrote it, how much came off your usage credits. Our page on adding pages has the details.

Asking about the steps

Your Growth Agent knows its own panel. Ask it about the four setup steps under the message box, the intake button at the top of the panel, or anything in the menu, and it answers from what is actually on your screen, in whichever layout you use. When you ask where something is, it sends you only to screens in your own account, and says plainly when a page belongs to our own team instead.

The Intelligence Center also has answers about the four steps on your home screen, and you can ask the assistant any of them.

The readiness checks

Once a site is built, the readiness checks show how it stands. Under the score for a site you build, you also see which version of the compliance ruleset it was checked against and on what date. The ruleset is updated each quarter, and sites are checked again against the new one. The compliance step in your build checklist lists the checks each page runs before it goes live: Google Search Essentials, plus headings, image alt text, text contrast and page language. For the full explanation of the score, read the page on the readiness score and the gate behind it.

What it does not do

The plans that include these steps are on the pricing page, and the platform overview lists everything else.

Frequently asked questions

What are the four steps?

Connect your domain, tell us about your business, build your site, and add pages. They appear in that order, numbered, and each is marked once you have done it.

Where do I find the four steps?

On your home screen, on your dashboard below the chat, at the top of your side menu, under your Growth Agent's message box on every screen, and, on a phone, in the bar at the bottom of the screen.

What does the intake button do?

The Business Intelligence Intake button sits at the top of your Growth Agent's panel and stays there until every detail about your business is on record. It takes you straight to the intake.

What does the readiness score show about my site?

Under the score for a site you build, you see which version of the compliance ruleset it was checked against and on what date. The ruleset is updated each quarter, and sites are checked again against the new one.

Can I ask the Growth Agent where the steps are?

Yes. Ask about the four setup steps, the intake button or anything in the menu, and it answers from what is actually on your screen, in whichever layout you use.
