Version history: what Microsite Generator does instead
What happens when you change a page
Editing a microsite is not a code deploy. On the Pages screen you change the headline, the supporting line and the search description, and any field you leave blank stays as it was.
Every save runs the same checks the page was built with, and a change that would fail them is refused before it can save. That is the compliance gate, a check that runs before anything publishes.
Most rollbacks exist because something bad reached the web, and here it never reaches the web at all. Your site is individually built too, so no shared template ripples one edit through forty pages.
Unpublish takes a site down and keeps everything
Taking a site down does not throw it away. Unpublish pulls it off the web while keeping your content and your captured leads, so you can republish whenever you are ready.
Delete sits further out of reach, because a live site has to be unpublished first. Deleting is permanent: it removes the site and the leads it captured, so one click never does both.
Test a change while the original keeps running
An A/B test writes a new headline, lede and answer capsule, while everything else on the page stays exactly the same.
Your original keeps serving the whole time, and the new version has to pass the same checks before anyone sees it. Nothing is promoted on its own, so that call is always yours.
The capsule is the block an answer engine would quote, and by that we mean the AI answers in ChatGPT and Google. That makes it worth comparing side by side, rather than guessing.
What to do instead of digging through history
History is a means, not an end. What you want is to know that a change left the page genuinely useful and still able to publish. You can know that without an archive.
- Keep your own copy of wording you care about before a big rewrite. A plain text file is enough.
- A/B testing — compare two ideas instead of replacing one and hoping.
- Unpublish rather than delete when a site is only pausing for a season.
- Ask AI — request one edit at a time, so each change is small enough to judge.

Frequently asked questions
Can I see older versions of a page?
No. There is no version browser in the product and no list of past revisions to open.
Can I roll a site back to last week?
No. There is no rollback control. Changes are made forward, in place, on the Pages screen.
Does unpublishing lose my content or leads?
No. Unpublishing takes the site off the web and keeps your content and your captured leads, and you can republish later.
What happens to the original page during an A/B test?
It keeps running next to the new version, and it stays your live page unless you promote the other one yourself.
