Account safety notices and deleting your account

Sign-in and account screens tell you plainly what happened: when your email is confirmed, when your password is changed, and which address your account lives at. Deleting your account is a step you take yourself on the Account page, with your password or an emailed code and the word DELETE.

Notices that tell you where you stand

Account screens say what happened instead of leaving you to guess. These are the notices you can expect today.

Your sites list says what happened

Taking a site offline asks first and confirms when it is done. Deleting a site, or canceling a schedule, says so. A publish ends with the next step, such as putting the site on your own domain. When something cannot load, the screen says that and lets you try again, and empty lists and unfinished setup steps link to where you can act.

A scheduled publish is handled the same plain way. At the scheduled time the site is checked, and if it cannot pass the checks at that moment, it is held and not published. You can change or cancel a schedule any time before it runs.

Right after you publish, the check that your site is answering tries again for a few seconds before it reports a problem. If it still gets a server error, it says exactly that.

Signing in with Google

You can choose Continue with Google on the login screen instead of a password. It uses Google's own secure sign-in, and we never see your Google password. Email and password still work, and you can use either.

What your Account page holds

Most of what you see on the Account page is a doorway to a screen with its own page: credits, plan, team and billing. Your profile there is a read-only summary of what we know about your business. If something is wrong or missing, tell the assistant in conversation and it updates from there.

One switch lives on the page itself: whether your sites will serve international visitors. Turning it on changes what happens the next time you generate a site, which gets a consent notice for visitors in markets that require one and is checked against those markets' stricter rules. It is not retroactive, so sites you already generated or published do not change. Only the account owner can change it.

Who can do what on a shared account

Everyone on a team works inside the same account, with the same sites, leads and plan, in one of two roles: owner or member. Only the owner can invite someone or remove a teammate, and those controls do not appear for anyone else. An invitation link is good for three days and works once.

Taking a site offline, or deleting it

Unpublish takes a live site offline and keeps everything: the content, the version history and the leads all stay, and you can republish any time. Delete is a different step. It removes the site, its version history and its captured leads, and cannot be undone.

A live site has to be unpublished before it can be deleted, so nobody deletes a live site in one click. A draft shows Delete right on your dashboard, with the same permanent-delete warning as the Sites page. The warning names the site and says that its leads go with it.

Deleting your account

Account deletion is the last section of the Account page, and it runs the moment you confirm it.

  1. Open the Account page and go to its last section.
  2. Re-enter your password, or enter a code we email you.
  3. Type DELETE.
  4. Confirm.

Your account, sites, leads and conversations are then deleted, any subscription is canceled, and you get a confirmation email. A cancellation during the free trial takes trial sites down right away. After a paid cancellation, the Billing page stays open so you can resubscribe.

Before you delete: take a copy

Because deletion removes your sites, leads and conversations, take the copies you want first. Your leads export as CSV or Excel from the Leads page. Downloading a copy of your sites opens after 45 days of paid subscription, and the Account page shows the date it opens. The page on downloads and your site files has the details.

What it does not do

If you are stuck, the troubleshooting guide and support messages are the places to start.
