Send new lead alerts by text message
For people who are not sitting at a screen
Trades, field service and single-van operators hit the same wall with every lead tool ever built. All of them assume you are logged in.
A text assumes nothing. It reaches an owner mid-job without an app to open, a password to recall, or a notification setting they chose once and never checked again.
When the person who quotes the job is also the person doing it, that difference is the whole argument.
What a text can and cannot carry
It carries enough to act on and no more. A text is short by nature.
So treat the text as the alert and your Leads page as the file. That is where the full submission sits, with a status and a note you can edit, plus a one-click export to CSV or Excel across every site.
Used that way, the limit stops being a limit. You learn something arrived. You decide whether to stop for it. The detail is intact when you sit down.
It is worth keeping your form short because of this. The fewer fields you ask for, the more useful each alert gets.
Setting it up honestly
SMS is one destination among several, and it is not a CRM. If a lead needs an owner, a stage and a history, send it to a CRM as well. Nothing stops one submission reaching both.
Texts go out through your own Twilio account: you paste its Account SID and auth token, the Twilio number to send from, and the number to text. Once those are saved, click Send test lead. One clearly marked test message goes out, so you catch a typo now instead of the week after launch.
Test sends stay out of your real lead list. The text carries no signature; only webhook deliveries do.
The pages that set off the alert
An alert is only worth having if the page behind it deserved the enquiry.
Every page on your site is individually built from a conversation about your actual work. Then it waits at the compliance gate until it passes, checked against Google Search Essentials and modern web standards.
The platform's page generator refuses pages that are a template with the town swapped, and edits that make pages too alike are refused too. So the old trade playbook of twenty near-identical city pages does not survive it.
Sites are capped by plan and built to be genuinely useful — it is the slower road, and it is the one the platform takes.

Frequently asked questions
Does the text contain the whole enquiry?
No. It is a short alert. The full submission, its status and its note stay on your Leads page.
Can I use SMS and a CRM together?
Yes. One submission can send a text alert and create a CRM record at the same time.
How do I test the number before launch?
Use Send test lead. It sends one clearly marked test message and never touches your real lead list.
Are SMS deliveries signed like the others?
No. Only webhook deliveries carry a signature. The text is sent through your own Twilio account.
